The lineup for America’s most iconic festival — Coachella — has dropped. Coachella is an annual music and arts festival in Indio, California that takes place over two weekends: this year, it’s April 12-14 & 19-21. Coachella brings a unique atmosphere of self-expression, music, and freedom like no other festival. Each year after both Coachella weekends pass, the anticipation for the next year’s line is immediate.
Over the past few decades, the world’s biggest artists have made debuts at Coachella, from The Cure in 2004 to Drake in 2015 and Tame Impala in 2019. Coachella always has so much depth on its lineup, each day there is a mix of pop, rap, EDM, house, and indie, which makes Coachella so special. There is always so much hype around the line-up dropping that it often leads to extremely disappointed fans or thousands desperately fighting to purchase a ticket. After the disappointment with last year’s headliner Frank Ocean who chose to bail on the second week, Coachella had pressure to redeem themselves this year.
On January 16th, the 2024 Coachella lineup dropped with 146 acts. Lana Del Ray, Tyler the Creator, and Doja Cat will headline the festival. Plus an unexpected reunion of No Doubt, a popular 90s pop-rock band featuring Gwen Staffani, Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal, and Adrian Drum is set to perform. Senior Ava Striley who attended last year’s Coachella added, “The headliners are a lot better than last year but the sub liners are lacking.” This year’s festival sub-liners are Columbian singer J Balvin, 80s rock band Blur, and Mexican singer Peso Pluma. Throughout the weekends, many new break-out female artists are sprinkled in the line-up such as Ice Spice, Renee Rap, Faye Webster, and Sabrina Carpenter, along with fan favorites like Dom Dolla, Grimes, and Sublime. Fellow senior Gisele Galbasini just bought her Coachella ticket, and she is most excited to see, “Grimes because she’s the spirit of Coachella with her 2010s indie vibes.”
If you’re looking to experience Coachella this year, you can still purchase tickets on the Coachella website. A tier one pass excluding shuttle transportation starts at $499, a tier two pass is $546 and a tier three pass is $599.
