Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and with that, everyone is starting to plan the perfect date for their loved ones but these dates can oftentimes be expensive. You don’t need pricey gifts or extravagant dinners to create a meaningful memory, so here are five budget friendly Valentine’s date ideas:

1. Thrifting

If you are looking for a fun and affordable date, thrifting outfits for each other might be one of the best options. You can head down to La Tienda or Coral Thrift Store on El Camino and pick out some crazy and unique pieces to style your significant other. Afterwards, you can have fun trying on your outfits and showing them off to each other. It’s a great way to spend time together and enjoy finding unique pieces. You might even end up with something stylish and one of a kind.

2. Baking

From cookies and cupcakes to a classic heart shaped cake, baking together can be a really fun way to spend your Valentine’s Day. The best thing about this is that you can even get creative and decorate your baked goods however you’d like. Maybe using some red and pink frosting or adding some heart sprinkles for that Valentines Day vibe. You can then enjoy your delicious treats while watching a romantic movie or simply enjoying each other’s company.

3. Heart Pizza

If you’ve already had a long day and are just looking for something fast and easy to do, making a heart shaped pizza is a delicious and creative way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, and the best part is, it’s really easy to make. You can either make your own dough or pick up some pre-made dough from Target to save time. After you got your dough, roll it into a heart shape and add your favorite toppings, maybe pepperoni hearts or colorful veggies. Once it’s ready, just enjoy it. This is simple, tasty, and relatively inexpensive, making it an amazing way to celebrate Valentine’s with your loved one.

4. Game Night

Sometimes the best way to connect is through competition and laughter. Stay home, play some music, and pull out some board games, card games, or video games, and have some fun. With snacks and drinks on hand, you’re all set for a night full of laughter.

5. Movie night

A cozy movie night is probably the most classic, cheap Valentine’s date. Just pick your favorite movies and get comfy with blankets and pillows. It’d also be fun to set up a snack station with popcorn, candy, and drinks to enjoy during the movies. “I’m excited to just chill and watch some movies with him, it will be a relaxing day which is nice,” says SCHS sophomore Jayden Johnson. This kind of date is really all about relaxing, enjoying each other’s company, and sharing a night of laughs and love.
