Proving why they’re one of the top programs in California, the Tritons have dominated their competition this year, earning statement wins and continuing their reign as the team to beat in the South Coast League. Earlier in the season, they secured first place at the Gold Coast Invitational in Santa Barbara, picking up big victories over Murrieta Mesa and Palos Verdes. Their schedule has featured a mix of dominant performances and hard-fought battles, testing their depth and resilience.

One of their most exciting matchups came against Sidwell Friends, a top-ranked team from Washington, D.C. that traveled across the country for an East Coast vs. West Coast showdown. The game gave the Tritons a chance to measure themselves against national competition, and they held their own against the highly regarded opponent.

Now, San Clemente is looking to finish league play undefeated for the fifth straight year. They have three league games remaining, including Senior Night on April 17, as they push for another South Coast League title. Beyond league play, the Tritons are preparing for a major test against La Costa Canyon. Last year, they secured a 15-11 victory over LCC, and with home-field advantage this time, they’re aiming for another big win.

While their season has been filled with success, it hasn’t come without challenges. Their lone loss came in a hard-fought 9-7 battle against Foothill, where they led 6-4 at halftime but couldn’t hold on in the second half. However, the team bounced back quickly, showing the kind of focus and determination that makes them dangerous heading into CIF playoffs. Junior captain, Quincy Connors, explained that “this team has worked so hard to get to where we are and I know we’re going to be ready for any team when playoffs come around.”

With 17 seniors leading the way, the Tritons have both experience and leadership on their side. Mackenzie Jamison, a senior attacker on the team, reflected on how “bonded the team is this year. I love how we all hang out together outside of school and the family we’ve created is unlike years before.” Their team chemistry and success has earned them a #3 ranking in CIF Division 1 and a #7 ranking in California. They also recently made program history by being ranked #9 in the West Region by Inside Lacrosse for the first time ever.

With playoffs around the corner, the team is focused on making a deep run. They’ve been close before but now, they’re aiming for their first CIF title. If their season so far is any indication, they have everything it takes to make it happen.
