Known as a highly acclaimed Hollywood star, Timothée Chalamet is a French-American actor recognized for portraying complex characters in both independent films and blockbuster hits. His remarkable acting skills, along with his distinctive appearance, constantly captures the attention of audiences and critics. While he is recognized for his unique features, Chalamet is also often described as relaxed, friendly, and genuinely kind. From his early life and school days to his breakout role in Call Me by Your Name, Chalamet’s journey represents how his talent and dedication turned him into one of Hollywood’s most talked about young stars.
Timothée Chalamet, 29, was born and raised in New York City, growing up in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood at Manhattan Plaza, a subsidized building for performing artists. Being born into a family of artists and surrounded by creativity his whole life, he was naturally drawn to the arts, which eventually led him to attend LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where he found a passion for acting and developed skills through theater. After graduating from high school, he attended Columbia University for a short amount of time, majoring in Cultural Anthropology before dropping out due to the intense academic demand. He later transferred to New York University Gallatin School of Individualized Study to pursue acting more freely. He also dropped out of New York University to avoid student debt and have a more flexible schedule.

He first entered the film industry with small roles in commercials and TV series like Law & Order in 2009, where he made his professional debut at 14 years old. In 2012, he appeared in season 2 of Homeland, and made his film debut in 2014 at 18 years old in Men, Women & Children. He also starred in Interstellar that same year. Chalamet’s first big break didn’t come until 2017 with his starring role as Elio in Call Me by Your Name. “I love Timothee’s performance as Elio in Call Me by Your Name and the cinematography along with the amazing storytelling,” said SCHS junior Cadence Haro. His performance earned him the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Play for Prodigal Son, and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, making him the third-youngest nominee in the category’s history and establishing him as a major Hollywood talent. Additional awards he has won for his work in other films include the Gotham Independent Film Award for Breakthrough Actor, the Film Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Actor, the Hollywood Supporting Actor Award at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and more!
His big break earned him widespread recognition and opened the doors to more major roles. Shortly after the release of Call Me by Your Name, he was cast in Lady Bird and went on to star in films like Beautiful Boy, Little Women, The King, the Dune trilogy, Don’t Look Up, Bones and All, Wonka, and most recently, A Complete Unknown. He also has an upcoming film, Marty Supreme, which has already gained significant attention and has fans eagerly waiting for its release. “I am so excited for Timothée Chalamet’s upcoming release Marty Supreme because he is so talented, and just by watching the trailer, I can tell it’s going to be a great movie,” described junior Hazel Marsh.
Timothée Chalamet’s impact on the film industry has not gone unnoticed. He has become a major box-office draw while redefining modern masculinity through his vulnerable portrayals. His artistic flexibility and attempt to bridge the gap between independent and blockbuster cinema have helped elevate storytelling and shape a new path to fame.
At just 29, Timothée Chalamet is revolutionizing Hollywood with his unique performances, proving himself to be one of the most talented actors of his generation. As he continues to evolve, it is inevitable that his choices will influence the next generation of filmmakers and set new standards for young actors, showing that determination and hard work in film making can lead to widespread success.
