Biggie’s Burgers has been a San Clemente staple since its establishment in 1991. The restaurant has an ocean view from its location on the iconic El Camino Real, and embodies the beach vibe that defines the downtown area. The burgers served here have garnered a strong reputation for the small chain, which also has locations in Vista and San Diego. This year, Biggie’s Burgers has been voted the best burger joint in San Clemente by the Triton Times and San Clemente High School students.
San Clemente is home to a number of burger restaurants, including typical fast-food chains as well as localized establishments like Burger Junkies and The Riders Club. An In-N-Out is also in the process of gaining approval before construction on Avenida Pico near the high school. Competition in the burger niche is tough, so it is great to see the success of home-grown restaurants like Biggie’s.
Biggie’s has incorporated the San Clemente lifestyle into its interior, with surfboard decorations and murals of life in Southern California on its walls.
“Biggie’s Burgers is a classic burger spot for all locals,” senior Nathan Alonso, a longtime fan of the diner, commented. “Those juicy patties and crispy steak fries are dangerously addicting.”
Biggie’s boasts a range of burgers on its menu, from the original “burger that made us who we are” to Veggie, Turkey, and BBQ options. Its food is served fresh, as is apparent by the unobstructed view into the kitchen. While its burgers are the restaurant’s foundation, Biggie’s also offers an array of sides including onion rings, chili cheese fries, and amazing zucchini sticks. For dessert, there is delicious milkshakes and root beer floats.
“The quality is top-tier,” Alonso concluded. Biggie’s sets itself apart from the usual fast food restaurant with its attention to the San Clemente culture and identity. The San Clemente restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as providing for pickup and delivery. Expectations for the quality of food and service will undoubtedly be surpassed.
