A few thoughts about the NFC

FLY EAGLES FLY: Jalen Hurts and DeVonte Smith are off to a soaring start. Bleeding Green Nation

Hopefully my NFC thoughts go a little better than my AFC predictions that were indeed a little too early. The NFL, now heading into Week 5, has just added more confusion to the 2022 season. The only team that really stands out from the pack is the Philadelphia Eagles at 4-0.

So what else is going on in the NFC? Here are a few thoughts to consider for as we continue through the season.

Thought #1: The NFC West is so mid.

The NFC West is home to the Rams, Cardinals, Seahawks, and 49ers; a group that is typically some of the best competing teams in league. Every team in that division sits at a troubled 2-2 with more questions than answers on their rosters.

The reigning Super Bowl champions, Los Angeles Rams, were not expected to have the same Cinderella story this year but no one expected this start. Speaking of underwhelming, the Arizona Cardinals haven’t done anything either despite their hot start last year  getting off to a smooth 7-0 run then unfortunately falling apart at the end of the season. That postseason choke has continued into this year for the Red Birds.

As for the 49ers and Seahawks, some may say their in a rebuilding state. With neither of them having a definite QB1 and up and down defenses. It seems they lack chemistry on the field and in the locker room, but does anyone in San Francisco or Seattle think Jimmy Garroppolo and Geno Smith will be able to bring success to their winning franchises?

Thought #2: The Bucs are not this bad.

Although not necessarily backed by fact, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, since the signing of the GOAT, (Tom Brady) always go through a few early bumps in the road but somehow manage to end up in the divisional championship game. The Bucs started with what looked a nice winning streak until Brady’s favorite receiver, Mike Evans, was suspended for an in-game brawl against the Saints’ Marshon Lattimore. Hopefully the boys in Tampa can figure a something out and get a rhythm going to find success. They play a winnable game this Sunday against the Falcons in Florida.

Thought #3: The Eagles (probably) are the best team in the NFC.

The Philadelphia Eagles on paper are the best team in football right now, being the only 4-0 team in the NFL. Although when you take a step back and look at their schedule, it’s important to note that they have yet to really be tested. However, the future looks bright in Philly as their offense, lead by a young Jalen Hurts, and a promising receiving core is soaring high so far.

“The Birds have been off to a great start this year the addition of WR A.J. Brown has been a great addition to the team and have already found success,” San Clemente High School junior Kieran Ota said. “I’m super excited to see what the future holds, and praying everyone stays healthy.”

COOPER IS ON FIRE: Cooper Rush has been red hot so far for the ‘boys. Big Blue View

Thought #4: Cooper Rush is saving the Cowboys.

America’s Team is being led by an unknown, Central Michigan’s Cooper Rush, as the Cowboys since losing their franchise starter Dak Prescott, have gone 3-0. Rush hour is going off, with a 73.9 QBR (Quarterback Rating) in his past games as the starter, which is good for fourth in the NFL. With Dak expected back soon, it seems like a quarterback controversy is brewing in Dallas.

“I think Dak will for sure start over Rush when he’s back Week 5 and there’s no doubt that Dak is the better quarterback in Dallas,” senior Dylan Wood thinks. “Rush has the hype in the media surrounding him because recently he’s been performing well getting the Cowboys their much needed wins.”

The quarterback is situation is tricky but I’m sure Jerry Jones will choose what is best for the Cowboys and help get them back in to the playoffs and show they are still “Dem Boyz.”
