Tesla is a Automotive company run by Elon Musk that specializes in all electric vehicles that are supposed to be of the future.
Tesla has a tendency to innovate qualities of futuristic cars and implement them in the real world through their own production of cars. Some of these features include Dog mode which cools down the car for your fuzzy friends when you are forced to leave them in the car. Tesla’s also have over the air updates so your car’s software can change to the latest one just like updates on your phone. This allows you to have the most up to date software to enhance your car’s ability. However, the most futuristic appeal to Teslas is autonomous driving. This feature enables your car to speed up or slow down to adjust to differing speed limits or the change in traffic. It also provides lane assist so you can stay in the lane without touching the steering wheel at all. Junior, Marc Guzman, said “Tesla’s autonomous driving is ahead of its time. As a driver you can be productive as the car basically drives itself to where you want to go.” But this feature was the reason for over 320,000 recent recalls.
The lane assist became too advanced and drivers were blindly trusting the autopilot and not paying attention to the road as they drove. Now you would think that the computer would get rid of all the human error that goes on when an actual person is in control of the car but it would actually have more issues and an increased risk of getting on top alterations either minor or major. Back in late December of last year there was an eight car pileup caused by the fully autonomous driving just hours after Elon Musk sent out the update for the driving software.
This isn’t the first recall that Tesla has had. In the past year alone over 4 million Teslas were recalled for 21 different reasons in the science of January of last year.
Over half a million of the cars were recalled for camera and trunk malfunctions that were shown to increase crash rates.
50,000 cars were recalled for a power steering issue that caused a much increased difficulty in steering after hitting a pothole.
Over a million cars were recalled for a window malfunction in which the window would not stop going up if there was an obstruction in the way. Like your arm for example
600,000 Teslas were recalled for a glitch in the software which did not play pedestrian warning sound when the car was in motion so the pedestrians could not hear the car coming
These recalls and many many more have inhibited Tesla as a company and the reputable nature of Elon Musk as a person. Instead of taking ownership of the problem he blames the drivers themselves for not paying attention to the surroundings of them and the car.
