Although often referred to as the “Spanish village by the sea,” San Clemente offers some excellent Italian cuisine. Guichos Eatery is an authentic and exquisite place for locals to grab a quick bite. With three locations and a vast menu, you just can never get enough Guichos.
The original Guichos, located at 1110 S El Camino Real, opened in 2010. The location offers amazing pasta, salads, and sandwiches. A common fan favorite is the meatball sandwich. Many places have their version of the “meatball sub”; however, none compare to Guichos. The bolognese is excellent regardless of the noodles you choose. Although, the penne seems to be my favorite.
With indoor and outdoor seating, Guichos is an excellent place to have a quick lunch with some friends or family. They are wicked quick to prepare your meal and also offer catering options. Nobody is disappointed when you show up to a gathering and Guichos is on the table. As a family-owned and operated eatery, the home-style meals offer a perfect portion to satisfy your hunger.
The other two locations — one located in north San Clemente off Estrella and the other in Carpinteria — provide the same excellent food and experience. The success of its first location has allowed for the family company to expand and broaden its variety of consumers.
San Clemente High School junior Marcos Duzman said, “I honestly haven’t always liked Italian food. Sometimes it’s too greasy but Guichos is just always perfect. I go like twice a week because I just can’t get enough of the tortellini.” He went on to say, “My whole family loves that place. My mom gets a chopped salad every day.”
I hope to see Guichos continue to expand to new locations so more can enjoy their excellent food and dining experience. Next time you and your friends are looking for a nice authentic place to get some dinner, try Guichos. You won’t be disappointed!
