If you’re looking for a mouthwatering and savory burger in San Clemente, H.H. Cotton’s Hamilton Standard will do it for you. H.H. Cotton’s—the American bar and grill located in downtown San Clemente on Del Mar—offers an abundant selection, ranging from your typical bar food to gourmet entreés. However, the showstopper on the menu has to be their critically acclaimed burger selection. H.H. Cotton’s offers three distinct types of burgers: the Jalapeno Burger which is topped with jalapenos, white cheddar, red onions, and all the other fixings you would find on a burger; the Western Burger lathered in BBQ sauce, roast beef, and onion rings; and the Hamilton Standard which is their best burger.
The Hamilton Standard is a classic American-made burger with lettuce, tomato, American cheese, bacon, grilled onions, and a perfectly seasoned half-pound slab of a patty held together by two toasted buns. The crunch of lettuce combined with savory meats and cheese along with juicy tomatoes make for the perfect bite each and every time. This burger is the definition of a good American meal and comes with your choice of steak fries, sweet potato fries, garlic truffle fries, and garlic parmesan shoestring fries.
The whole meal is an enriching experience that I personally recommend to everyone. Senior Dexter Brice describes it as “seasoned and cooked perfectly, [the bun] was amazing, and all the ingredients were fantastically composed.”
Everything is prepped and made in-house by H.H. Cotton’s kitchen staff so that the burger arrives piping hot and fresh. It is always made quickly and can be ordered both to go or dine-in, with inside and outside seating. On the intersection of Del Mar and Ola Vista, the outside patio seating is one of the best places to enjoy both this fantastic burger and the energy of downtown San Clemente. Come on in any day of the week and enjoy the entire experience and meal for $18—worth every cent for a gourmet burger that won’t leave you disappointed.
