Every fall, Knott’s Berry Farm transforms into Knott’s Scary Farm, a Halloween extravaganza that draws thrill-seekers from near and far. This year, I decided to dive into the frights, and it was an experience I won’t forget anytime soon.
As soon as I entered the park, I was greeted by eerie music and costumed ghouls roaming the streets. The atmosphere was electric, with fog creeping through the air and the distant sound of screams adding to the thrill. It felt like stepping into a horror movie, and I was ready for the adventure.
This thrilling environment is not for everyone, however, for when I asked SCHS junior Arie Acuna, he explained that “one time they scared me so bad I jumped out of my skin” and he vowed to never return to the spooky premises of Knott’s Scary Farm.
One of the popular features of Knott’s Scary Farm is its elaborate haunted mazes. Each one offers a unique theme, from classic horror films to original tales of terror. The attention to detail in the set design was incredible, making each maze feel immersive and genuinely frightening. The actors brought the scares to life, leaping out at unsuspecting guests and adding an extra layer of excitement.
In addition to the mazes, the park features thrilling rides with a spooky twist. The GhostRider roller coaster, typically a crowd favorite, was even more exhilarating in the nighttime setting, enhanced by ghostly projections and eerie sounds. It’s a must-ride for anyone looking to mix thrills with chills; but make sure to get to the park in time to wait, because those lines can take up to two hours for the fan-favorite ones. MJ Shalvoy, a junior at SCHS, explained her frustrations with the lines and how “they seem to never end” while at a snail’s pace of progress through the line.
Beyond the scares, Knott’s Scary Farm offers live entertainment that is worth checking out. My friends and I continuously drifted to this big area, for the scare actors harboring there tended to leave you alone if you were participating in the dancing and singing festivities. Furthermore, witnessing the scare actors take a gentler approach when interacting with younger children was heartwarming. Countless times, I saw them dancing with the younger guests, bringing smiles to their faces.
Overall, Knott’s Scary Farm is a perfect blend of terrifying attractions, thrilling rides, and festive fun. Whether you’re a horror aficionado or just looking for a unique night out, this annual event delivers on all fronts. I left the park with a heart full of excitement and a promise to return for more spine-tingling adventures next Halloween!
From eerie attractions to lively shows, my night at Knott’s Scary Farm was a thrilling reminder that Halloween isn’t just a season—it’s an experience!
