Freshly baked and perfect for a break – San Clemente’s very own Bagel Shack will never leave you disappointed! Owned and run by three local brothers, the small wood building is located on El Camino Real in San Clemente, California, and is perfect for locals coming home from a surf sesh wanting a quick breakfast or lunch. Not to mention you can choose between about twenty different bagels and plenty of different toppings–even a jalapeno cream cheese! And if spicy or savory flavors aren’t your thing don’t worry, they got some sweet strawberry cream cheese just for you! They don’t just have simple bagels with cream cheese or butter, they have breakfast bagels such as “Lowers” and “Old Mans,” which are named after some popular local surfing spots. They sell many different drinks as well: like some freshly squeezed lemonade or orange juice, coffee, smoothies, and many more. They put a lot of heart into these homemade bagels to guarantee you a fresh and tasty meal.
Many people who have grown up in San Clemente have eaten Bagel Shack traditionally throughout their whole lives. San Clemente High School junior Mikaela Benumof remembered “buying bagels by the dozen” on weekends when she was younger so she and her siblings could “[have] a bagel every day of the week.” She often gets their Old Man’s on Everything bagel, which is a bagel with cream cheese, freshly sliced avocado, and some lemon pepper to top it off. Paige Thralls, another junior at San Clemente High School, recalled “going to Bagel Shack after Junior Lifeguards” with her friends and often going for a “quick and easy meal” when in a rush. She enjoys a simple jalapeno bagel with plain cream cheese after a sunny beach day!
No matter what day of the week or time of day, when walking in they make sure to always greet you with a friendly smile and a pleasant tone. The laid-back atmosphere and good tunes provide a welcoming demeanor; almost as if it’s asking you to come in and enjoy a bagel straight out of the oven with the best cream cheese in town!
