Located on the bustling street of El Camino Real, La Tienda is the perfect place to find second hand treasures. People of all ages can be seen perusing the aisles searching for the next addition to their wardrobe or home.
The large store features an expansive first floor of clothing: including casuals, fancy suits and dresses, accessories, and even wetsuits. Upstairs, you will find yourself immersed in the bounty of home decor and appliances. The second-floor ranges from televisions to teacups and most definitely has a piece that will complete any space. Cameron Dorn, sophomore at SCHS, states that she has found many great finds at La Tienda including “jewelry and even some old records.” Customers are sure to find something for them in the store.
In addition to the excellent products, La Tienda offers superb service. The assistant director at La Tienda explains that their store is different from other secondhand shops because “the service is great and the workers are always in a good mood.” The workers always greet you with a smile and are committed to helping customers find exactly what they are looking for. Dorn agrees, stating that the “employees are always there to help” and her “experience in the store has been very good.” The Director finds that the uplifting music in the store adds to the encouraging environment of La Tienda and keeps shoppers coming back. Dorn says that she chooses La Tienda over other secondhand stores because it is more affordable for a teenager like herself and it offers more “unique” items.
The store is also a part of Joshua House, a Christian recovery home for men. Joshua House is located in the heart of skid row in Los Angeles and serves more than 7,000 people a year. The Assistant Director expresses that the best part about his job is “seeing the guys get back into society and their families and living clean.” La Tienda is not only a fantastic thrift store, but also helps fund a remarkable cause. If you are looking to unload some clothes or items gathering dust, La Tienda is the place to donate.
