In the heart of our vibrant beach town community lies a hidden gem that has quickly become a go-to-spot for health conscious locals: Alohana Bowls. With its colorful bowls packed with a harmonious blend of whole foods and incredible taste, this acai haven has captured the hearts and taste buds of all who have walked through its doors.

If you haven’t tried a Alohana bowl yet, you are likely a minority. With two locations in San Clemente and a traveling trailer that has been sighted at San Clemente High School events, Alohana Bowls has earned a dedicated following since 2015. Whether satisfying your breakfast or brunch craving or grabbing a snack after a surf session, it is easy to see why this little spot is so beloved.

Acai bowls are often hailed as a superfood, packed with antioxidants, fiber, and healthy fats. At Alohana Bowls, they have taken this concept and turned it into an art form. With their low sugar and high protein bases, exclusive to Alohana, they have redefined the standard. Popular bowls include Uppers, featuring organic peanut butter swirled acai, blueberry flaxseed granola, bananas, strawberries, nutella, and cocoa nibs, or T-Street, with fresh fruit, honey, and coconut shavings. “I’m obsessed with their Lower’s Peanut Butter Acai Bowl,” said Ryan Cuenca, sophomore at San Clemente High School. “It’s the perfect post-volleyball snack – it’s filling, but light, and I especially love the creamy peanut butter drizzle on top!”

Along with its signature bowls and smoothies, Alohana offers locally homemade baked goods. A store favorite is the pumpkin bread with a secret banana ingredient. Why not enjoy a hot espresso or chilled blended java chip mocha along with a fresh pineapple muffin.

Co-owner and local entrepreneur, Robert O’Quinn, originally immersed in the sports industry, realized the food options at action sports trade shows were limited to hot dogs, burgers, and pizza. O’Quinn and partner Pete McAfee decided to bring a healthy alternative to the field. “We wanted to provide a more healthy treat that fuels your body and satisfies your taste buds,” said O’Quinn.

If you haven’t stopped by Alohana Bowls, now is the time. Regulars praise the warm, inviting atmosphere, with its coastal decor, earthy tones, and friendly staff. Whether you are grabbing a bowl to-go or enjoying it on the spot, the vibe is laid back and inviting. There is always something for everyone, and there is no better place in San Clemente to experience the perfect blend of health and flavor.
