Even though school can be boring, and everyone looks forward to spring break and summer, when they finally come around, finding activities and stuff to keep oneself busy can be hard. So here are five crafts that you can do to stave off boredom.

Tie-dying

Tie-dying any t-shirts, pants, swimsuits, or clothing accessories while having a beach/pool day. Having a beach day is fun in itself, but adding this activity helps keep boredom away and gives people a fun accessory to keep from the day. Finding cute and unique designs is another fun way for friends to stay busy during these long days. Make sure to wear gloves and clothes that you don’t mind getting dyed on.

Clay Keychains

With many of the upperclassmen, such as junior Emily Racine, being able to drive, they have key chains that may not fully show their personalities. Making a “cute key chain is a good way to express yourself” and a good activity to do with friends. You can use clay, paper, paint, glitter, and other accessories to help these key chains be customizable to match one another, or all to be different in their own ways. Either way, this is a fun activity to do with friends on a hot summer day that will give the group lasting memories.

DIY Candles

This is a fun activity that can be done on holidays or just a long summer day. Using paint to spice up the jars, friends can make their own unique designs that will later be used to hold the melted candle wax. Each candle can be scented differently to accommodate each friend’s favorites and can be either lit, or used as a cute decoration.

Vision Board

This is a fun way to get out of your comfort zone and set goals for yourself. You and your friends can make it fun and cute, so it is not as intimidating to complete. Creating this in either a journal or poster board makes the days more enjoyable because when you get to cross something off you feel accomplished. Having each person in the group add their own things is a good way to keep everyone involved and excited about summer.

Photo Wall

Making this keeps yourself motivated to make new memories and experiences. Its a good way to remember everything that happened while also being cute. Kerian Moran, a junior at San Clemente High school said “[he] wished [he] took more photos from when [he] was younger” so that he “could look back at them now.” Keeping photos on a board or the wall is a good reminder as to what awaits in summer during the long school hours.

All of these crafts and DIYs are good ways to stay busy and off the screens during the spring and summer and push oneself out of their comfort zones.
