Back at it again with yet another amazing lineup, Ohana Fest never fails to impress its crowds with the bands and artists we all love! With headliners such as Hozier, Leon Bridges, Green Day and many more fans are sure to go wild. People are so excited that 1-day and 3-day VIP tickets went within just a few days of being released to the public for sale.

Ohana Fest has grown in popularity among much of the younger crowd, including SCHS students. Junior Hanalei Marshall exclaimed that she “signed up for pre-sale as soon as [she] saw the lineup” and “didn’t even hesitate buying tickets.”
Many students cannot buy tickets of their own so they opt for a more affordable option. Doheny State Beach is open to the public on Ohana Fest nights, which allows people who couldn’t or didn’t want to buy tickets to still enjoy the bands. People can sit on the beach and listen to the bands play, even if they didn’t get tickets. This is even a great option for those who love listening to live music but don’t prefer the large crowds. The sound is just as loud and clear on the beach as inside the festival fences.
Tickets aren’t the only way people manage to get into Ohana. Many teenagers and young adults play a little game of tag with the security guards, running to hop the fences as soon as the guards turn their backs. Most get pulled off the fence and back onto the beach but some have managed to successfully get in. However, they are almost all later caught and thrown out. Junior Rylee Kervick recalled having seen kids “rush the fence” with a huge group in hopes that some might make it over. She even remembered when a group of maybe fifteen people rushed the fence and ended up “knocking the fence down.”
Not only is there music but there’s food and shopping as well! All different kinds of vendors will have a great selection of food and drinks for all ages. Many local businesses will also attend Ohana with a booth for the public to hang out and rest.
No matter what year it is or the lineup, Ohana Fest is the perfect occasion for all music lovers!
