As the Homecoming parade, football game, and dance approach, the anticipation of who will be voted Top 5 in the running for Homecoming King and Queen out of the 15 seniors for girls and 14 for boys grows. There are numerous candidates for Top 5, and each one tries to campaign for votes. This exciting tradition creates fun activities as everyone waits for the dance and game that await at the end of the school week.
Each day of the week builds anticipation from the Top 15. From fun dances, to Top 5, parade downtown, and finally the half time show where the king and queen get announced. The week will be full of activities and good times.
Hoping to get more votes, the Top 15 are expected to choreograph a dance for their voters in front of the library during lunch on Tuesday. The Top 15 choreographed their own dance and performed them during lunch.
As votes start rolling in, students campaign for themselves or others. The question of who will be on the Top 5 Homecoming Court was answered during lunch on Wednesday.

The festivities of Homecoming include the parade on Del Mar, the football game, and the dance at SCHS. The parade features the Homecoming court and teams; the football game lets people get loose and officially relax after a long week. The Homecoming dance features carnival rides, food, and a mosh pit. With all of these festivities, is there just one best part about Homecoming?
Nominated senior Emmi Franklin believes “the best part about Homecoming is the parade” as well as the “Half time dance” during the Homecoming football game that precedes the parade down Del Mar. Although there is much competition for Homecoming king, Emmi hopes “Santana wins because he deserves it.”
Sophomore Brody Smith, backs up Emmi’s opinion as he thinks the football game is the best part because “[he] and his friend just have a lot of fun” and “go to In-N-Out after” to wrap up the night.
Homecoming is always a blast. With voting and events throughout the week, ASB truly knows how to build up the suspense for the first dance of the school year. This dance draws in every class, as there is something for every type of student.
