The futuristic year of 2020 has arrived and with it a new run for the president, and a chance for the Democrats to take back the White House from the GOP.
The Californian Democratic Primary takes place on Tuesday, March 3, alongside one of the 14 state primaries set to take place on “Super Tuesday”. The Californian primary is so far composed of 494 delegates out of which 415 have pledged to vote on the result basis of the primary. California having a semi-closed primary system means that non-Democratic party members can participate in the primary election. As a result it is expected that non-loyalist Democrats, especially Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) who is an Independent himself could potentially have an unseen advantage in the polls.
Until very recently former Vice President Joe Biden had been leading in the polls by single digits, however Sanders is poised to either remained tied with Biden or overtake him sometime in the future. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) has slowly declined into 3rd place, while other candidates such as business magnate Mike Bloomberg, entrepreneur Andrew Yang, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana, are bound to stay insignificant in the grand scheme of the state primary.
Below is the updated (as of January 20) polls, including a Composite score, which is the candidates’ mean score.
