5. Although it is one of the most well-known spots in San Clemente, the pier is the ideal spot to grab a slice of pizza and gaze at the sky. You can chill at Fisherman’s or walk all the way to the end of the pier and lookout into the open ocean.
4. At T Street, you can sit back and watch the sun sink behind the ocean after a mellow beach day. You’ll most likely see freshman surfer Riley Getz heading down to catch some tasty waves before a tasty dinner. He claims, “I watch the sun set over T Street almost every day. It keeps me goin’!”
3. The rooftop of Lavender Lounge is the ideal location to relax with your favorite tea and watch the sun set with a group of friends. With only a set of stairs to walk up, this spot is perfect if you’re cruising around Del Mar and want to take a quick break to appreciate nature’s beauty.
2. For a better view of the Pacific Ocean, take the short hike to the top of the Trestles Trail. The open and undeveloped area is right next to the San Clemente Municipal Golf Course in south side. At the top of the half-a-mile hike, you can scope all of your favorite beach breaks from San Onofre to T Street.
1. If the weather is just right for a hike, take the 4.7 mile trek up to “Top of the World” on Avenida Salvador. Make sure you pack water, snacks, and a camera for once you reach your lookout destination by the water tower. Overlooking nearly all of San Clemente, this view presents a spectacular sunset. Junior Christopher Riley remarks, “Warm Saturday evenings is the best time to hike up there and watch the sunset.” With the view shown in the photo above, there’s no wonder why most label this “Top of the World” as the best.
