San Clemente is lined with beautiful beaches along its portion of the golden Californian coast. But which is the best?
Decided almost unanimously by our students, Lowers was voted the best surf spot in San Clemente.
Lower Trestles, known by SC surfers as Lowers, is located between Uppers and Middles, situated in the southern end of San Clemente. Being that Lowers is in the middle of SC’s beaches, its region allows for a picture perfect San Clemente wave.
We asked one of our very own SCHS surf team members, seniroTai Stratton, “What makes Lowers the best surf spot in SC?” They told us, “Just the way it’s positioned allows the wave into split left and right a-frame.” For those who wonder what an “a-frame” is defined as, “The perfect face for a wave.” An impeccable wave available to anyone here in SC .
Anonymous described to us that Lowers favors short boards, but it is fun to challenge yourself by using a longboard. With Lowers having the “perfect wave,” the pressure of trying to catch a wave is inescapable, longboard or not. Through a spectator’s eye, you watch some struggle in the beginning. But as the surfer catches this “perfect wave,” you can see the smile on their face, and feel a slight smile on yours. Lowers is a beach where surfers from all around the world come together to surf and enjoy a consistent, overly fun, classic surf spot. Lower Trestles is by far the best surf spot of SC.
