Lavender Lounge is a quaint, hidden store that has quite a large reputation despite taking up a space of less than 500 square feet. They offer unique and tasty teas with the addition of flavorful choobies, which are coconut jelly cubes, and a menu that changes frequently to keep customers interested. This charming store is located on 104 N El Camino Real, above the corner of the popular street Del Mar, and it is frequently visited by locals and tourists alike. Lavender Lounge Tea Company was established at its current location in 2001, so its presence in San Clemente has been a lifelong comfort to many SCHS students. Many students have enjoyed Lavender Lounge since their middle school days or before, and stop by regularly during the summer to cool off.
“I used to go to Lavender Lounge a lot when my friend had a house on Del Mar this past summer,” junior Katerina Patton said. “I remember when I slept over, my friends and I walked to Lavender Lounge in our pj’s to get their lychee drink, and it was so so good.”
Due to its location above what used to be Baskin Robbins, Lavender Lounge offers a charming view of Del Mar. It is decorated in a comfortable and welcoming manner with canned tea lining the shelves, art brightening the walls, and fun seating areas. There are tables that can be used for studying or just meeting up with friends to talk. The interior of Lavender Lounge, with its bright colors and comfy corners, gives the place a feeling of nostalgia.
“Lavender Lounge is my favorite tea place in all of Orange County,” junior Macie Mayer said. “Not only do they have refreshing drinks but they have created an environment that is relaxing and welcoming. It is the perfect place to get a sweet drink on a hot summer day.”
It is important to keep the gem that is Lavender Lounge alive because it is the favorite of many San Clemente locals. According to many students at SCHS, a fun summer activity is grabbing a quick tea and walking down Del Mar to the beach. Next time you visit Del Mar, don’t forget to stop by!
