San Clemente is known for its plethora and celebration of small businesses, where many stores have been opened by citizens who have either lived in San Clemente their entire lives or can have to San Clemente to settle and open their businesses. Most prominently, residents enjoy a variety of restaurants, a common favorite being breakfast stops. And a common favorite in those breakfast spots is the universal favorite breakfast item: french toast. But what restaurant has the best french toast in San Clemente?
Locals have voted and unanimously have chosen Cafe Rae right on El Camino. Cafe Rae has been providing the community with their favorite fluffy, soft, and sweet french toast for over 12 years now. Like most small businesses, Cafe Rae is family owned by Jenny Shapiro and Terry Shaprio, working together to create creative culinary experiences and an eclectic surrounding with their restaurant. Jenny designed and cultivated the bright colors and unique art that make Cafe Rae the distinctive breakfast stop that it is, while Terry, self-taught and with a background in catering classic rock tours, while creating a uniquely health conscious and homemade food for customers.
“The artwork and the vibe of Cafe Rae is my favorite in all of town!” San Clemente High School junior Shannon Brown said. “Plus, their food is super good and unique to other restaurants in town. My favorite is their french toast. It’s definitely the best I’ve ever had!”
Cafe Rae is located at 1421 North El Camino Real.
