“Through the Eyes of a Child” was the theme of this year’s Laguna Niguel Holiday Parade, with the famous Snoopy being the Grand Marshal. Approximately 10,000 people gathered along the streets that Saturday morning to watch over 100 entries march along Crown Valley Parkway, incuding San Clemente High School’s very own Triton Marching Alliance, performing ‘Santa Claus Is Coming to Town’.
There were planes flying overhead above the crowd, which started the National Anthem, leading into the parade. So many smiling faces, especially on the Boy and Girl Scouts who rocked their little elf hats and even a friendly Santa Claus.
Starting at Nueva Vista at 10 am, the announcers called out all the many athletes, youth groups, military tributes, classic auto clubs, marching bands, and more as they strode down the street. Among all the classic cars, children, and bands, there were happy cries of “Merry Christmas!” and “Happy Holidays!” from the participants of the parade and the crowd alike. As the little gingerbread floats, horses, color guards and even puppets went along, people were excited to see these many different representatives.
This annual holiday parade also featured many special entries including Snoopy, Tyler Foden, star of “Air Buddies,” “Snow Buddies,” and “Ben 10 Race Against Time,” sports mascot Wild Wing from the Anaheim Ducks, the Oscar Meyer Wiener mobile, and Miss Los Angeles traveled those 1.2 miles down Crown Valley. Not to mention, a Congressman, Senator, and the Mayor of Laguna Niguel, Robert Ming, also made an appearance.
There were many other entries that have come to this parade every year, in honor of the holidays. I hope that those who have seen this parade had fun, and to look forward to next year!
