This week, San Clemente High School hosted a mini college fair during lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 14th and 15th. College admissions representatives from twenty colleges, including schools from California and out of state, set up tables in the Triton Center and outside of the College and Career Center. They were available to answer any questions and provide students with information regarding their university. Represented universities spanned from Yale University to Oregon Institute of Technology to UCSD and more. With the conclusion of high school quickly approaching, the college fair provided many Tritons with clarity and inspiration for the direction they want to take their futures.

For students interested in participating universities, the fair provided an unparalleled opportunity to converse with in-person admissions representatives. Students were able to directly speak with the representatives and ask questions about the admissions process or other inquiries regarding that university.

To seniors plagued by the anxieties and pressure of application season, the chance to speak to representatives from many of the colleges they are applying to was comforting and enlightening.

Senior and IB diploma candidate, Macy Armbruster, spoke highly of her experience at the fair and noted that the representatives “were all really knowledgeable and answered a lot of her questions. Speaking to a genuine representative of a college face-to-face allows students to gain valuable insights and answers about their possible homes for the next four years.”

Also, finding immense value in her visit to the fair during her lunch period, senior Myla Pert asserted that she would highly “recommend” the fair to other students. Pert described the clarity and confidence she received when her “specific question on an application” was answered by a person “who was actually reading [her] application.” Additionally, Pert explained the advantage of having a human being there and the benefits of putting a “face to put to your name” when they receive your application.

In addition to aiding the senior class with the pressing concern of the upcoming four years, the fair provided the younger classes, especially the junior class, with information regarding potential schools. To juniors beginning to curate their lists of colleges they will apply to next year, having the opportunity to talk to representatives from universities and hear the missions and offerings of various colleges in person without having to travel is an unparalleled opportunity that undoubtedly helped to develop and refine many college lists.

Overall, the incredible college fair was an extraordinary opportunity for SCHS students to hone their collegiate aspirations and receive answers to pressing questions with application deadlines for the class of 2026 looming in the near future. Furthermore, this event and its success demonstrate the dedication of the Triton guidance team, and the college and career counselors, to their students and the work they put in to ensure every student has the necessary resources and opportunities to attend the school best suited for their interests and aspirations for their future.
