With the school year winding down and coming to an end in just a few short weeks, groups of friends are trying to find things to do in order to make the most out of their last weeks of the school year. However, this seems to consistently pose problems. In San Clemente, what can one do? Yes,  you can go walk along the Pier or Del Mar, but that is fun for roughly half an hour before you get over it.

One thing that you can get excited about and rally up all your friends to go see is the hottest new movie that just hit the theaters, Huntsman Winter’s War has everyone talking. Sydney Davis, a senior explains that, “Not only was it an action-packed movie, but there were also aspects everyone will love too. Its a perfect movie for all viewers and I highly recommend it.”

This movie follows two sisters, Freya and Ravenna, who are complete polar opposites. Ravenna is the black-hearted, cold, evil, sister who has never once loved anything; Freya is pure-hearted, loving, and dreaming of the young Duke who is having a child with her. When her plan of running any with the Duke is ruined by his burning down a tower with her baby inside, Freya’s witchy powers are unleashed. In despair, she defects to her own wintry Ice Queendom, fostering her own army and banning human affection from her domain: “Love is nothing more than a fairy tale,” she constantly explains, while being oblivious to her own generic surroundings.

Among the child soldiers she rears are prodigious hunts people Eric and Sara, who eventually fall in love. Their romance prompts an arctic intervention from Freya, and Eric is banished with the belief that Sara has died. When Freya learns that her sister has been killed, she summons her remaining soldiers to bring Ravenna’s Magic Mirror home, to the only sorceress left who can harness its power. The long lost missing mirror has now become Eric’s quest to find, because if retrieved by Freya’s, her power will be out of control.

Once Freya discovers Ravenna can be resurrected from the mirror’s golden depths, the wicked sisters threaten this enchanted land with twice the darkest force ever before. Now, their amazing army shall prove invincible, unless the banished huntsmen who broke their queen’s cardinal rule can fight their way back to one another.

We really recommend this movie for all ages/groups. Everyone will enjoy it and walk away feeling satisfied. We asked Devyn Conte, a junior, about her thoughts on the new movie and she replied, “ The special effects were mind blowing and the story line was enchanting, I recommend everyone to go see this film if possible.”

Head to the local movie theater with family or friends and purchase a ticket!
