Rocket Fizz is among the very few spots in San Clemente that creates forever nostalgic memories in large quantity and quality. Children wander in and their dreams feel all too realistic. Older generations (but young at heart) reminisce as the display window light warmly welcomes (and nearly blinds) due to the vibrancy of color throughout the store.
The longer you stay in the shop the more hidden gems can be found. One can grab a classic styled sarsaparilla, but also some incredibly weird drinks as well, such as ranch-flavored soda, and even imported Japanese sodas. The strangest, and the funniest to me is Leninade. It’s a red drink with Soviet propaganda covering the whole bottle.
Additionally, there’s a truly massive candy selection. From unnecessarily large saltwater taffy bars to buttered popcorn and even rum-flavored candy. If it can be put in candy form, Rocket Fizz likely has it.
However, it’s not all soda and candy, the knickknacks and odd toys give it the nostalgic feeling so many in the community cherish. Large selection of everything ranging from spinning tops, to vintage Pez, the works.
Walking into the shop there already is so much going on with all the signs, colors, and sodas popping out at you. It is most definitely a glorifying experience and a special asset to the city of San Clemente.
