Lillard finally gave in to the superteam tactics. After 11 phenomenal seasons as the face of the Portland Trail Blazers franchise and being a six-time NBA all-star, the generational talent teams up with the two-time NBA Most Valuable Payer, Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee.  With two players who are arguably among the best in the world teaming up, the Bucks are looking to be likely candidates for the NBA Championships this upcoming season.

The trade involved three teams: Bucks, Suns, and Trailblazers. While the Bucks acquired Lillard, Portland gets Ayton, Camara, a 2029 Bucks first-round-pick, and a Bucks pick swap. Phoenix received Nurkic, Little, Johnson, and Allen. Even though the Bucks were the team that landed on the point guard, Damien Lillard, the Suns, and Trail Blazers also greatly benefited from this trade—the Trailblazers not only get the all-star caliber center Ayton but three years of respectable picks that will all build the next generation of the organization.  The suns gained greatly needed depth as they acquired 4 different role players. Back to Lillard, it is very surprising that he has finally left Portland and joined a super team.

It is surprising that Damian Lillard is being traded, considering his long-standing commitment to staying in Portland. Throughout his career, Lillard has consistently expressed his loyalty to the Trail Blazers and his desire to bring a championship to the city. NBA superfan and senior, Faizaan Ihani commented, “I was genuinely surprised that Dame Time left the Blazers. I thought he would retire there.” But Lillard’s dedication to Portland has been evident both on and off the court. He has embraced the community, becoming a beloved figure among fans, and has been actively involved in various charitable initiatives. His leadership and passion for the game have made him the face of the franchise. Now he hopes to take his career average of 24 ppg and his leadership skills to Milwaukee and hopefully win a championship.

Damien Lillard is still one of the greatest in the league and is eager to finally contribute his talents to something other than pointless regular season wins. He has one goal left, one box to check in his esteemed NBA career. With Giannis and the Bucks, Dame has joined a perfect situation for him to finally achieve his dream of being a champion.
