Happy Lunar New Year! If you didn’t know, Chinese New Year is the beginning of the new year based on the lunar calendar, and it marks the beginning of spring. Chinese zodiac animals are very important in terms of reflecting Chinese philosophy and culture. You may not know your zodiac animal, but you can easily find out basing it on the year that you were born.

This year is the year of the dragon, one of the luckiest years in the Chinese zodiac. This can mean different things depending on your zodiac animal:

Rat (1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020): Rats get along with the dragon and will experience luck mostly within the workplace. The advice for Rats is to keep strong communication with those around them.

Ox (1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021): Oxen will have slow progression throughout the year, but progress is progress, right? Advice for the ox is to focus on balancing work and home life. 

Tiger (1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022): Tigers will be competitive in their workspace, but will be financially secure. Advice for Tigers is to make sure they are being positive in relationships rather than negative. 

Rabbit (1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023): For Rabbits, this year is not the luckiest socially, but it leaves room for finding inner peace. 

Dragon (1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024): Dragons have a lovely year ahead of them. Fame and fortune are predicted and overall good luck for new beginnings is expected.

Snake (1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025): Snakes are expected to have many changes ahead and their advice is to be ready to adapt and not be stubborn when it comes to loved ones.

Horse (1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014, 2026): It is predicted to be an energetic year for Horses career-wise and certain life changes. Advice for horses is to be in touch with their calm side.

Sheep (1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015, 2027): This year, sheep can expect a year of highs and lows. During this time, they will also get quiet time with their family.

Monkey (1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016, 2028): Monkeys will have stable relationships and nothing big will happen, leaving room for them to focus on themselves.

Rooster (1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, 2029): Roosters are advised to be careful and not to be too wild at times. They are advised to not take big financial risks.

Dog (1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, 2030): This year will bring many ups and downs for Dogs. They are advised to rely on their famous characteristic of honesty to help them this year.

Boar (1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, 2031): This year, Boars are told to treat others as they want to be treated in order to have good luck.

Many people are not aware of this holiday, and they just learned about it recently. Junior Isaiah Johnson said, “I just found out that I was the Boar zodiac and even though I don’t believe in horoscopes, it is interesting to see what it had to say. You never know if you might need the advice later on in the year.” In agreement, Senior Aiden Carroll commented, “I think it was fun reading about what this year might bring for me and the advice that I might need most. It may not be 100 percent accurate, but it was cool to learn about.”
