As the winner of the 2025 San Clemente High School Battle of the bands, Surf Strands is not your typical high school band. Since their formation, they have been constantly seizing new opportunities to play shows near or far. This past weekend on April 5th Surf Strands took the stage at a house gig in Seal Beach to play with bands Waiting on the Weekend and Your Mom’s Best Friend

Their show on April 5th was a huge hit with everyone at the show cheering, singing and dancing but they’re not stopping there. San Clemente High School Sophomore Maddie Montejano said she “loves watching [Surf Strands] perform because they have so much energy” and she loves how they always keep the crowd moving.

Surf Strands has two more shows taking place in April. On April 17th they’re opening for Double Wish and The Gromble with special guest Jekcey Ayer–who was a previous member of the band Local Natives–at The Observatory in Santa Ana. It doesn’t stop there! On April 25th Surf Strands–along with bands UltraViolet, Sleeping with Socks on and Solrac–are playing in downtown San Clemente with all the profits from the show going towards rebuilding Los Angeles after the mass fires. They are sure to keep a busy schedule to get their name out there and spread their music!

Surf Strands fan and girlfriend of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Caelin Cummings excitedly described how much she loves to see “Surf Strands get better every time they perform” and how all the band members of Surf Strands are “committed to making their crowd have a good time.”

Their most streamed song is “Take my Mind” with 19,500 streams. This is a huge accomplishment considering they’re just teenagers and have been a band for a very short amount of time–showing the world that there is much more to come from them. Continuously dropping song after song they are releasing yet another new song called “Feel the Fun” on April 25th–just in time for their show in San Clemente!

Surf Strands has proved that not only can they blow the crowd and judges away at Battle of the Bands but that they can make a memorable night for everyone that gets to hear their band play. Whether at a house, at school, or at real concert venues Surf Strands is guaranteed to have their crowd leaving fulfilled–and even tired from dancing the night away!
