After reading and hearing much about about the locally famous Italian take out Guicho’s, I had to check it out!
Location: The Italian take out has two locations in San Clemente, the original one is located on South El Camino Real. The second location is located on Camino De La Estrella up north of San Clemente. I went to the one located just down across from Zebra House Coffee on El Camino Real.
The place is a most definitely not a sit down, it is more of a place for a grab and go. They highly recommend to call ahead of time so you can come in and take your food home. There is a table in the corner in which you can wait for your food or eat it. The decoration is simple and gives off a a relaxed feeling. The staff are all very friendly and will be happy enough to help you out if you don’t know the menu well.
After a long day of school on Friday I made my way down to Guicho’s and as I got there I notice how small the place was. I walked in and was greeted by an employee with a big smile that was welcoming. I told the employee that I was new unfamiliar with their menu. She handed me a menu and explained to me the specials they had that day. As I took a look at the menu I was excited to see that they had a variety of pastas, salads, sandwiches, but the options for dessert were very small.
I ordered their Heart of Palm salad, which consists of romaine lettuce, hearts of palm, Roma tomatoes, red onions, and gorgonzola dressing, a very delicious combination. Their Ravioli 3 Cheese is so delicious, you can feel your taste buds exploding from the cheesy goodness. The ravioli’s contain 3 cheese ravioli, kalamata olives, roma tomato, capers, shaved garlic, and light marinara.
Although some dishes may be a touch expensive, they are worth it. I encourage any one to try Guicho’s takeout even if you don’t like Italian food it is worth the try.
