A growing storm has taken over social media after TikTok creator @notfamous808 posted an honest review of Habit Salon and its owner, Chrissy Rasmussen, known online as Hair by Chrissy. The creator posted an image of her receipt, writing that her bill was over $4,200, but that was not her complaint. She complained that she was under the impression that Chrissy herself would be doing her hair, only to find out that Chrissy would touch her hair for only 60 seconds. She was also disappointed that her hair looked nothing like the photo she was promised.

According to @notfamous808, after paying for the so-called “Chrissy Service,” she was left in the hands of Chrissy’s many assistants rather than Chrissy herself. She also claims the assistants pressured her into purchasing new extensions, even though she brought her own, which raised the bill even higher.

Social media users were not scared to hold back after seeing the outrageous price with such terrible service. Criticism resurfaced from Chrissy’s 2020 reputation, when the nickname “Hair by Crispy” resurfaced after clients left Habit Salon with fried or damaged-looking hair. Along with the name, AI photos and memes of Chrissy also appeared.

In response to the insane backlash, Chrissy is avoiding an apology and instead doubled down, escalating the controversy. She’s shared multiple clips of herself applying extensions, dying hair, cutting hair, curling hair, and then walking away after spending only a few seconds on each step. TikTok user and sophomore student Sasha Keck reacted by saying “that was so petty of her and she is never going to see my hair.” These videos were Chrissy’s spiteful way of trying to prove to viewers that she genuinely does something, but viewers weren’t buying it.

Tensions drastically escalated when she began posting videos of @notfamous808’s hair. She also created a whole T-shirt brand with some shirts writing “Hair in 4K,” “I paid 4K for this,” and other insane sayings alluding to the things being said about her, mocking the discourse surrounding her. Sophomore student Dylann Dubost saw Chrissy’s response to the controversy and commented, “That woman is almost 50 years old, borderline bullying that poor girl. It is absolutely unprofessional and pathetic.” The irony is that @notfamous808 never once complained or even mentioned the price she paid for the service she received; she only ever spoke about how Chrissy barely did her hair, and the end product never reached her expectations. Additionally, Chrissy changed her TikTok profile picture to different photos of her assistants multiple times. These actions were the catalyst that triggered many other creators to speak out about their similar experiences at Chrissy’s Habit Salon.

As conversations and controversy rage on the internet, the root of the backlash is crystal clear: lack of transparency and value. Viewers are questioning the discrepancy between the high price attached to Chrissy’s name and the amount of work she truly contributes. Right now, focus is on Chrissy’s brand model, whether her responses, or lack thereof, will be enough to calm the storm down.
