It’s finally here; after a long almost 2 years, Bridgerton season 4 has been released. After releasing the first four episodes on January 29th, Netflix will make the remaining 4 available to stream on February 26th. There was much anticipation for this season, starring Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton) and Yerin Ha (Sophie Baek). This season focuses on Benedict’s search for companionship and finally opening himself up to the thought of marriage with the spin of Sophie’s complicated backstory, this season is one to remember.
The Netflix series is actually an adaptation of a series of books written by Julia Quinn. The first season, covering Daphne and Simon’s marriage, is based on the book The Duke and I. Season 2 also followed closely along the second book The Viscount and I, while season three was based on the 3rd book Romancing Mr. Bridgerton. The fourth season is set to be modeled after Quinn’s book An Offer from a Gentleman, and it will be interesting to see the correlation between the book and the TV series adaptation. Fans have been very pleased with accuracy for most of the seasons, so we will see if season 4 holds the same standard.
Senior Savanah Pico said “[she] is super excited to see how they show Benedict’s love story” because she described the main character, Benedict, as “the most intriguing brother yet.” She wasn’t the only one thrilled with excitement about the new season. Mackenzie Granum, a senior at SCHS has been “eagerly awaiting for the new season to be released” because “so much unfolded last season.” So, she is excited to see how it all plays out.
This season’s focus on a fairy-tale like romance makes it so enjoyable to watch. Also, the way it ties in real-life problems like social standing and societal expectations of the time make it feel so real, really connecting the viewers to the show. It will sure be exciting to see how the second half of the season plays out after the cliffhanger the shows leaves off in on part one.
