San Clemente High School offers Triton students many opportunities to express themselves artistically through programs and clubs. From the drama department to our very own newspaper, every student has an opportunity to become involved and explore their creative side. One class that became an especially popular outlet for creativity this year was Video Production, taught by Mr. Bisch. Video Production allows students to create short films and videos along with providing the art credits needed to graduate.

This past year, the class was only offered as a sixth period, giving students a fun and laid-back end to stressful school days. According to senior Josh Greene, the day to day schedule in Video Production is pretty flexible, “Some students work with the equipment, some edit, and some go out around campus and film.”

The class, although not having a conventional atmosphere, still requires dedication and quality work. With an upcoming Film Festival on May 29th, the class encourages students to create projects they are proud of and want to show to our school body. It’s growing popularity has led more students to join next year, with 22 freshman alone joining in the 2018-19 school year. San Clemente High School has progressively moved towards more incorporation of the arts, and with a new wave of students interested in Video Production, this change is apparent.

By no means is Video Production a boring course. We can assume Mr. Bisch would describe the course as “Righteous” and encourage any type of student to join. Mr. Bisch provides a laid back and fun atmosphere for the class so students can feel more comfortable publicizing their creative ideas. As more students are expressing artistic interest, video production offers a way to work collaboratively and build teamwork along with learning more about film production.

Junior Kiley Hahn commented, “It’s such a fun class because it lets us be creative by making any kind of short film or script we want. Plus my group is a meme and I love them, shout out to Gabriel Govi!” Video Production provides students a community of peers that have the same interests and are passionate about film making. Like other elective courses, video production can start or build friendships through creative outlets. With a fun teacher, a laid back atmosphere, and creative freedom, if you’re looking for a new way to express your artistic side, Video Production might just be the class for you!
