Days after the 18 year old star, Billie Eilish, made history at the GRAMMYs, The Academy announced on social media that she will also perform at this year’s Oscars, academy awards for merits in the film industry.

The singer swept five prizes at the GRAMMY Awards: best new artist, record of the year, album of the year, song of the year, and best pop vocal album. Eilish became the youngest solo performer to ever win album of the year in the process, and seemed genuinely shocked when she accepted the award.

This year, the Oscars will take place on February 9, 2020 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California. They will air live on ABC, starting with a red carpet pre-show at 3:30 PM PT.

Earlier this month, it was confirmed that Eilish will perform the title song to the upcoming James Bond film, No Time to Die at the Oscars. The song has not been released yet and viewers are excited to hear it for the first time. Eilish wrote the song with her collaborator and older brother, Finneas. Eilish is the youngest artist in history to write and record a Bond theme song. That song, of course, could be a contender for best original song at the 93rd annual Academy Awards.

“I can’t wait to watch the Oscars!” San Clemente High School sophomore Grace Manning, a raving Billie Eilish fan, said. “I am so glad that Billie Eilish will be performing, she is so talented and deserves the world.’’

This marks the second year in a row the Oscars have booked a star who made a big splash at the Grammy’s. Last year, album of the year winner Kacey Musgraves was quickly booked for the Oscars.

‘’I will watch the Oscars on T.V. just to see Billie Eilish perform.’’ SCHS senior Haley Stephens said. ‘’Not only is she a good singer, but one of the best performers I have seen. (texasflange) ’’

Just a month into 2020, and Billie Eilish has already had a great year, winning numerous awards and performing at the Oscars, a huge accomplishment for anyone, especially an 18 year old.
