San Clemente High School’s video game-themed homecoming dance has arrived! This iconic night includes bonding with friends, making memories, and of course, snapping pictures at Pines Park. Another excitement added to this highly-anticipated event is the thoughtfully curated looks. “What to wear?” is a phrase commonly circulating the halls of American high schools as each’s homecoming approaches. Trends change seemingly overnight in our tech-centered world, So for SCHS Homecoming 2022, what is scoring high, and what is game over in the fashion department?
Junior Jordyn Banks, gave her take on what to wear, saying “Nordstrom always has good dresses and it is where I got mine this year. In terms of style, I love fit and flare dresses.”
Not only do students get inspiration from peers, but also from the internet. The tag “#hocoinspo” on popular social media app, TikTok, has almost 2.6 million views.
Most dresses that are bought for homecoming season are purchased especially for the dance and are not in frequent wardrobe rotation. This raises the question of how to shop intentionally and affordably.
“I normally try to thrift my dress, I feel like you can find a bunch of cute options for really cheap while not buying from fast fashion brands!” answered junior Erin Reyland.
In the end, how will we know what trends are victorious in this game of homecoming fashion? My bets are on short, simple, and satin, but the MVP will always be those unafraid to break all the rules of the game and steal the show altogether.
