Bobbi Althoff has taken over the internet within just the past few months. She started her career on TikTok, creating content mocking typical influencer moms. As her career grew, she eventually started “The Really Good Podcast,” showcasing her distinct dry and sarcastic sense of humor: the one thing that people love about her.
She launched the podcast with Colleen Ballinger, better known as Miranda Sings. This is how she received traction, and was eventually able to land an interview with Drake. Bobbi saw that Drake had liked one of her photos on Instagram and said, “I decided to just go for it and shoot my shot. I DMed Drake and asked if he wanted to be on my podcast, and he said yes.” Bobbi went on to say, “He sent me his touring schedule, and I knew that I needed to make it happen fast, so my friend and I flew to Memphis two days after the original DM was sent to record the episode.”
In the interview with Drake, she is in his bed and playing to her character with wry sarcasm. Junior Lincoln Stone, who is a massive fan of Drake, stated, “I thought Drake was gonna bag, but he didn’t…but ya. He was tryna rizz, but he didn’t complete the mission.”
“I love how Bobbi just has a straight face,” Lincoln said. “She seems so mysterious and low-key. Her and Drake’s humor is different, but that almost made the whole podcast funnier.”
The hype for the interview eventually blew over, but on August 17th, the “beef” began. Bobbi deleted her podcast with Drake without explanation. Then, the two reportedly unfollowed each other on Instagram. Conspiracies erupted on
what could have caused this beef. Dave Portnoy, CEO of Barstool and host of the “BFF’s Pod,” made public remarks that Drake and Bobbi slept together. He claimed that she cheated on her husband and created tension.
But when the truth finally came out, the whole issue was over a copyright infringement. During the podcast, Drake asks Bobbi if she knows who American rapper Tyga is. When she responded no, he played one of his infamous songs, “Rack City.” When the podcast was released, Drake reportedly went to Tyga’s record label and had the video stricken for copyright. The verdict was that she must pay all money from the video to the label or delete it, so she decided to remove it from her channel altogether.
Bobbi stans were incredibly upset because Drake himself was the one who played the song. “It’s just messed up from Drake’s side,” senior Matt Mercier commented. “There was no reason for him to try to get the video copyrighted. Especially since he played the song.”
Bobbi has continued her podcast and will perform in Los Angeles in October alongside Funny Marco. Although Drake created her first instance of Hollywood drama, Bobbi is only a rising star, and she will continue to grow and gain attraction to her podcast.
