San Clemente is extremely well known for its vast amount of locally owned businesses, especially in the food industry. Bagels are one of the most universally loved options for breakfast or brunch, and San Clemente offers various great locations for delicious bagels. However, nearly everyone can agree that the best local spot for bagels is The Bagel Shack.
Located off of El Camino Real in Downtown San Clemente, The Bagel Shack features a wide menu offering bagels, sandwiches, and salads, as well as beverages such as specialty coffee and smoothies. The iconic spot is exclusive to Southern California, with only three locations in San Clemente, Dana Point, and Lake Forest. A fourth location is expected to open in Irvine in March 2024.
The popular spot is open Monday through Sunday from 6 AM to 2:30 PM, making it the perfect
stop for breakfast or lunch. Despite their extensive menu, The Bagel Shack’s specialty bagels are easily their most popular item. They offer a wide array of different bagels, including savory options such as Jalapeno Cheddar, Everything, and Asiago, and sweet options including Strawberry, Cinnamon Crunch, and Chocolate Chip.

The Bagel Shack’s interior reflects the surf and beach town at the heart of San Clemente, featuring a Tiki-style overhang and walls adorned with beach-related posters and decor. The laid-back atmosphere and friendly customer service always make for a great dining experience.
