The Golden Globe Awards started this year’s awards season off with a bang: the event was comprised of a grand celebration of excellence in film and television, as well as a magnificent presentation of vivacious and unique fashion. Featuring brilliant gowns, distinctive suits, and radiant jewelry, hundreds of A-list celebrities dress to impress on the award show’s red carpet.

Popular trends on this year’s red carpet included full-length gowns, varying shades of red, and winter white. Shades of rouge were presented by both men and women alike, with stars such as Selena Gomez, Barry Keogan, Florence Pugh, John Krasinski, and Julianne Moore all dressed in ruby red. Winter white was popularly opted for by many of the women attending, with celebrities including Elle Fanning, Elizabeth Olsen, and Riley Keough dressed in beautiful, floor-length white gowns. Along with these trends dominating the red carpet, many donned extremely unique and special portrayals of fashion.

The event’s best dressed included Margot Robbie, Hunter Schafer, Timothée Chalamet, Heidi Klum, and Jennifer Lopez, each featuring distinctively successful wardrobe choices.

Robbie, nominated for her role in Greta Gerwig’s standout film, Barbie, was adorned in a custom hot pink Armani dress, inspired by the vintage 1977 Superstar Barbie doll. This gown was symbolic of both her iconic role in the film and her 2023 Barbie press tour, in which she displayed various Barbie-inspired outfits prior to the movie’s release. Her look was embellished with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry valued at over $3 million, as well as pink Manolo Blahnik heels that perfectly matched her dress.

“I loved Margot Robbie’s look,” exclaimed junior Isabella Noble. “It was so fun and perfectly encapsulated Barbie.”

Actress Hunter Schafer, one of the many stars presenting awards at the Golden Globes, wore one of the night’s most unique gowns. Schafer, known for her unique red carpet style and fashion, wore a translucent, blush Prada gown with sheer fabric that trailed around her in an elegant train. Allowing her dress to be the star of her attire, she coordinated her wardrobe with white heels and a slicked back updo.

Timothée Chalamet, nominated for his role in the musical comedy, Wonka, was a major standout in men’s fashion. Attending alongside his high-profile girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, Chalamet was dressed in a Celine Homme suit, featuring a glimmering sequin embroidered blazer and a diamond, white gold, and black ceramic Cartier necklace. The actor’s outfit complimented Jenner’s, who was dressed similarly in a Hanae Mori sheer black lace maxi gown, fully embellished with sparkling beads.

“Timothée was easily one of the night’s best dressed,” explained junior Adelyn Haderlie. “He is one of my favorite actors and clearly well-versed in fashion.”

Heidi Klum, renowned model and TV show host, presented a beautiful, ruby red ballgown silhouette with a dramatic slit. Her Sophie Couture gown, featuring a strapless neckline and voluminous skirt, was hard to miss on the red carpet. To complete her wardrobe, she wore matching red Louboutin heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

Lastly, Jennifer Lopez, supporting her husband’s film, Air, wore a soft pink, feminine mermaid-style gown. Lopez shined in her Nicole + Felicia strapless dress, adorned with dramatic rosette sleeves and a flowing train. She accessorized with Christian Louboutin heels and hummingbird earrings from Boucheron.

Overall, the Golden Globe Awards started 2024 off with a striking and diverse collection of fashion. With a vast variety in colors, textures, and styles, the event presents the unique year of fashion that has just begun.
