Last week the season five premiere for Stranger Things took place in Los Angeles, marking the beginning of the end to the epic series. Although it’s bitter sweet, fans everywhere are left anxious for the new season, counting down the days until part one comes out on November 26th.
Stranger Things first came out in July 2016 and we didn’t know then that it would take us on a nearly decade-long journey filled with friendship, heartbreak, thrill, and suspense. Many kids who grew up with it are now beginning to reach adulthood; the show is marking an end to millions of childhoods. Each season represents a different phase in our lives and for fans it feels like they grew up alongside the characters.
Daisy Hill, senior at SCHS and longtime supporter of Stranger Things, reflected on the show’s finale, “The ending feels strange but almost perfect since it’s our last year of high school. I’ve been watching since third grade, it feels like I aged with it.”

Fast-forward to 2025 and the show is reaching its end as season five promises an emotional but definite closure to the characters we fell in love with. In true Stranger Things fashion, theories and speculations have begun based on the season five poster, trailers, and cast interviews. Many predictions include Steve Harrington or possibly Eleven’s death and Will Byers role as Vecna’s spy that may help the main cast defeat him.
Social media has been flooded with excitement for the upcoming season, and it’s hard to ignore this show’s cultural impact. Taken by storm from its very first seasons, fans became obsessed with the show’s music, fashion, and ’80s aesthetic. Emma Burke, junior at SCHS, recalled one year when she “dressed up as Eleven for Halloween.”
The love fans share for Stranger ThingsĀ has been a “never-ending story,” and it has become a shared experience for fans everywhere, growing with us as we navigated elementary school, middle school, and now high school.
Stranger Things has been more than a show; it’s been a chapter in our lives and now we get to watch the final part unfold.
