It is no secret that Southern Californians are yoga and pilates fanatics. With over ten individual studios in San Clemente alone, this beloved practice isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Business is especially booming at Pure. Love. Yoga., Asana Fit, and Bikram Yoga. All three studios are known for their excellent instructors and authentic atmospheres. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro, these studios are worth trying out for yourself, and the health benefits are nearly endless.

Pure. Love. Yoga.

IMG_0855Winner of the “Golden Ole” in the SC Times’s 10th annual Best of San Clemente edition, Pure. Love. Yoga. has an unrivaled reputation and is revered by SCHS students. Senior, Paris Hull, said of the studio that, “this is the place where my chakras find peace, and the cool thing is I never feel intimidated or self-conscious about the poses we do because there is a strong sense of community. The instructors are really supportive and nice.” This studio offers 13 different yoga practices that focus on a wide spectrum of exercise and spirituality, ranging from relaxation and stillness to strength, balance, and flexibility. They are now also featuring a new student offer, which offers 30 days of unlimited yoga for $30  in addition to their $99 per month unlimited membership. If you want your family to get in on the action too, you should stop by and ask about their family package deal. I’ve heard nothing but raving reviews when it comes to Pure. Love. Yoga. Even when I stopped by myself, I was warmly welcomed and already felt the good vibes.

Asana Fit

Asana Fit is another popular option among San Clementians, because they offer classes to match all skill levels. Whether you want to cross hot yoga off your bucket list or are looking to develop a strong foundation, prevent injury, burnout, or muscle weakness, this studio has just what you need. They are open every day of the week and there are at least 6 time slots for yoga sessions per day. Also this is the perfect location for anyone who lives downtown due to an advantageous location at S. Ola Vista house number 102. In addition, I would say that this studio has the best merchandise and most authentic decor, which only enhances one’s internal and spiritual experience.

Bikram Yoga

Bikram Yoga is also located downtown and offers what they jokingly call “torture chambers.”  The windows are tinted black and it does have a different aura than the other two, more serious and professional. The yoga itself, however, is just as exceptional according to senior and student-athlete Courtney Smith. Smith remarked, “I go to Bikram so that my body feels cleansed and fresh. I strengthen and tone my muscles which in turn, improves my soccer skills.” Smith brings up an important point that yoga is great for athletes who want to enhance their strength and become one with their bodies. Bikram Yoga is the place to go if you desire an intense environment where you can truly get the full yoga feeling without any distractions.

Yoga and pilates are engrained in San Clemente culture. It is a research-proven way to boost your overall health, while offering an amazing means for challenging yourself and gaining confidence in your physical capabilities.  We are so fortunate to have so many amazing studios right here in our hometown, especially these three. So, get your zen on and awaken your inner yogi!
