If a stress-free escape accompanied by exquisite tea is what you’re looking for, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, seven days a week, an oasis called Lavender Lounge located on El Camino Real is your answer. Lavender lounge, a place that seems as though it coined the phrase “hidden gem” is locally loved and cherished. The location and entrance are one of its many unique qualities. Customers walk up a stairwell to get inside. This sets the tea house apart from the rest of Del Mar. Even though Lavender Lounge is hidden, it is definitely not a secret with many loyal customers since its establishment in 2001. “I have been going to Lavender Lounge ever since I was in middle school. I love the calming atmosphere,” junior Erin Reyland said.
It’s the small details that truly make a difference. Hand-drawn signs of the current tea flavors add to the personal touch along with the sticky notes with sketches that decorate the interior. Tables and chairs are arranged in a homey manner and a window gives a view of Del Mar only found at this gem.
The space is not only pleasing to the eyes but it also can be utilized for many activities. For many local students, it is a calming place to study, a cozy environment to spend time with friends, to listen to music, and of course lounge. Lavender Lounge gives a wide variety of different teas to its customers such as their feature teas, pomegranate, raspberry mint, and caramel apple. The flavor journey does not stop here. Customers can additionally add choobies (flavored jellies). Among these is the T-Street tea is their most popular drink.“I would definitely say my go-to order is the T-street tea with lychee choobies,” junior Bella Dahlquist exclaims.
Next time you are on Del Mar remember to take the trip up the stairwell to a tea-lover’s paradise!
