Last Tuesday, January 9th, the Seniors of the Boys’ Wrestling team had their moment to shine. Senior Night is dedicated to our Seniors who have worked hard and put their all into their sport. Boys’ wrestling has been quite successful in winning all their dual meets this season.

After countless months of sweating through intense workouts and running in 80-degree heat, the Varsity Boys’ Wrestling team was prepared for the League Finals. The triton seniors had beaten Aliso Viejo in their freshman year and lost to them last year in the League finals, so it was a toss-up as to whether they thought they would win.

Everyone was on their toes at the beginning of the match— it looked as if either team could take home the gold. Halfway through, though, San Clemente pulled through with a landslide of a score. Pin after pin, the final score ended up being 57-15!

Here are some thoughts from our Seniors on their final wrestling season coming up to a close:

Senior team captain Jacob Belden said, “I’m excited for the weight cutting to be finally over, but I’m definitely going to miss the sport. It’s been a huge part of my life for a long time, and it has taught me so many valuable lessons.” Belden is currently ranked 11th in the state and is ready to finish the last 1.5 months of this season strongly.

Senior Dylan Henry added, “This season has been tough for sure, but it went by so fast. I know it’s almost over, so I will give these last matches my all for these last few weeks.” Henry is ranked 22 in the state and is locked in for this final season.

Make sure to come to support the Boys’ Varsity Wrestling team as they advance onward to CIF Duals!
