San Clemente is a small town with a lot of great coffee spots. All are great for work, homework, meeting for group projects, or just hanging out. However when I looked at the best coffee in terms of quality and taste are Bear Coast, Zebra House Coffee, and Ellie’s Table.

Bear Coast Coffee

156 Avenida Del Mar, San Clemente, CA 92672

Located inside of what looks like a winery, is Bear House (The Cellar) on Del Mar. This little coffee bar is gaining in popularity everyday, and now are expanding into their own cafe next to the Pier Market. You can have a cup of freshly brewed coffee inside with your meal, on the patio, or to-go. No matter how you take it, the rich taste of this coffee is #1 in San Clemente. A fan of Bear Coast is junior Julia Brandt who says “It’s the Best in SC!”

Zebra House Coffee

This has been an occurring favorite of all students at SCHS. No matter who you are or what you’re in to, Zebra House has it all. They have Open Mic Night (Wednesday) for you musicians who want to express themselves in a relaxed environment , or even if you’re a Tumblr-coffee guru, it’s the place for you. The coffee is claimed by junior AP Environmental student Vy Pham to be, “A great place to do homework and listen to some live music.”

Ellie’s Table

120 Avenida Pico, San Clemente, CA 92672

This small, hidden spot is located right above Ole Hansen and North Beach. It features delicious sandwiches and desserts but the coffee dominates it all. Not as rich and dark as Bear Coast, but it is delicious. Grabbing a cup of joe is a must with any lunch or breakfast ordered. It is perfect for anyone who just wants a good cup of coffee, not looking for the absolute best quality, just a great taste. Junior varsity soccer player Cassie Fuentes says, “I don’t like most coffee places in San Clemente, but I love Ellie’s.”
